Our next CSREM Roundtable Ambassador Alliance safety professional development meeting is Tuesday, March 08th at 10:00. This month’s topic is Human and Organizational Performance.

Speaker is Dr. Jenny Petipas a Safety Analyst for Eversource Energy with a focus on Human and Organizational Performance. This interactive presentation will cover the “new view” of safety, otherwise known as Human and Organizational Performance (HOP). The agenda for this presentation includes:

• The “old” vs. “new” view of safety
• What is HOP?
• What are the five principles of HOP?
• Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF)
• Learning Teams
• Tips on how to incorporate HOP into your safety culture

Our next CSREM Roundtable Ambassador Alliance safety professional development meeting is Tuesday, February 08th at 10:00. This month’s topic is Sleep.

Dr. Brian Morris, the Medical Director of OHS Training & Consulting, Inc., returns to the CSREM Roundtable Alliance, this time, in person.  Sleep will be the topic.  We spend one-third of our lives asleep, yet no one really knows why.  The agenda for the presentation “Sweet Dreams 😴” includes:

• Sleep facts
• What is sleep?
• Why do we sleep?
• Stages of sleep
• Dreams-sweet or scary 
• How much sleep do we need?
• Sleep disorders (narcolepsy, sleep apnea)
• Sleep deprivation: a construction safety risk
• What can a construction employer do to address sleep deprivation?
• Tips on how to get a good night’s rest

This presentation should be fun and informative.  Much of what we know about sleep is based more on speculation that it is on hard science; therefore, bring an open mind to the meeting.
