Hello Roundtable folks,

The next CSREM Roundtable Alliance safety professional development meeting is Tuesday, March 13th at 10:00. This month’s Topic is a presentation through the eyes of the fire service on the requirements and enforcement of NFPA 241, Safeguarding Construction, Alternation, and Demolition Operations.

Speaker is Lt. Christopher G. Towski, Fire Prevention Bureau Inspector, Electrical Safety Officer, Cambridge Fire Department. Bio is attached. Discussion will cover historic fires, the regulatory code path, gaps in the construction industry and real life examples of some of the issues commonly found in construction operations due to the presence of large quantities of combustible materials and debris, as well as some unusual ignition sources that may not be present following construction operations.

February’s Meeting

The next CSREM Roundtable Alliance safety professional development meeting is next Tuesday, February 13th at 10:00. This month’s Topic is Fall Protection.

Speaker is Becky Danielson, National At Height Safety Training Manager at WRS Fall Protection Systems/Webb Rite Safety, Port Allen, Louisiana. Becky will be flying in from her home in Red Wing, Minnesota for this presentation. Becky’s bio is attached. Many of you know of Becky if you have attended an AGC of MA Fall Protection Competent Person course or participated any recent Marr Companies sponsored Fall Protection Competent Person Certification Courses.

As customary when we have a fall protection topic AND we are at the NE Carpenters facility, we invite a couple greater Boston fall protection vendors to display their PFAS wares and roof top perimeter protection products. You’ll find a couple tables set-up along the wall in the cafeteria and a tag-along display trailer to the rear of the building just off the lower level cafeteria doors.

Most always when we are at the Carpenters Training Center there are several apprentice training classes going on. As in the past, our Roundtable Group has invited the Carpenter Training Staff and their onsite students to join us for our two hour professional safety training meeting to hear firsthand the safety message from Becky Danielson.

The January CSREM Roundtable Alliance safety professional development meeting was held on January 9th, 2018. Many thanks go out to the co-speakers Paul Katz of OSHA Advocate and Peter Barletta of OSHA.

Paul Katz, atty, retired OSHA Solicitor presented “OSHA – for me and you”.

Peter Barletta CAS, CSP, MPA, U.S. Department of Labor – OSHA discussed a smorgasbord of current OSHA topics, such as fatality data, Local Emphasis Programs, electronic reporting, etc. See the following link for his powerpoint slides.
